Lady 'detective' lands behind bars

Hyderabad: Narayanguda police on Tuesday arrested Borra Pallavi Reddy (24), wife of Surender Reddy, for running an unauthorised private detective agency, 'Solving Innovative Problems' at IDPL in Balanagar. The bogus agency came to light on March 29 when the victim (name not disclosed for security purpose) approached Narayanguda police stating that she had gone to the agency through 'Just Dial', as she had problems with husband and in-laws. She wanted to keep a check on her husband's activities. Pallavi demanded Rs 1 lakh for conducting the investigation. When the victim expressed inability to pay the amount, she offered to take ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh in lieu of cash. She had collected ornaments weighing about 55.5 tolas within a month. The victim realised that Pallavi had 'cheated' her by claiming that the problems would be sorted out with the help of the agency. The victim lodged a complaint and a case was registered under sections 420 and 406 IPC. Pallavi was arrested and sent to judicial remand. Gold ornaments worth Rs 16.5 lakh were recovered. The investigation revealed that the agency was bogus and was run without any trained personnel and registration.
