Book containing select speeches of former judge of Supreme Court released

Hyderabad: A book, 'Justice O Chinnappa Reddy - a legend' with select speeches of Justice O Chinnappa Reddy, former Judge of Supreme Court who passed away recently, was released at a programme held at the AP Bar Council Hall on Thursday. The book, brought-out by Tarimela Nagireddy Memorial Trust, was released by C Padmanabha Reddy, senior Advocate. Speaking on the occasion, he said Justice Chinnappa Reddy was a man of great intellect, legal insight and dedicated all his life to ensure justice for the poor and common man of the land.

Justice Chandrakumar, judge of High Court in his speech, heaped praises on the legendary legal luminary saying that he was an embodiment of honesty, sincerity, patriotism and his love for the poor and needy had no bounds. "His legal, political and social insight had no parallels. He fought against exploitation through his judgments and tried to liberate the suffering.

His interpretation of law goes to the roots. His views were very clear and he never compromised on issues which he believed incorrect. He always believed that judicial unorthodoxy will lead to fundamental freedom and promotion of social justice" Chandrkumar lauded. Justice Chinnappa Reddy will continue to inspire the generations to come, he added.

Dr P Jaswantharao, Secretary of TNM Trust, said Justice Chinnappa Reddy always stood for equality and his understanding of law was admirable in a sense that it reflected the true spirit of egalitarian society. "Law and social progress should go side by side and mutually supplementary. The law should constantly undergo change according to changing world and help the society to progress accordingly. This is precisely what Justice Chinnappa Reddy felt" he stated. He announced that a Telugu version of the book is also on the anvil. Ghanta Venkatarao, another member of the TNM Trust also spoke on the occasion.
