West Godavari records highest child sex ratio with 970 in urban and 960 in rural

Hyderabad: Of the total State population of 84,665,533 in 2011, as many as 51,438,510 were found to be literate, with the urban areas recording a literacy rate of 80.54 per cent and the rural areas recording 61.14 per cent.A Of the literates, men constituted 28,759,782 (75.56 per cent) and women 22,678, 728 (59.74 per cent).

These figures were made available on Tuesday as part of the Census of India (provisional) 2011 report. According to the report, the child sex ratio by residence (0-6 years) in 2011 was 943 as against 961 a decade back. West Godavari district has a high ratio of 970 in the State, while Warangal has the least, 912. In 2001, Vizianagaram district had a high ratio of 980 and Hyderabad the lowest of 943.

The growth rate among males was the highest in Mahbubnagar district (more than 60 per cent) followed by East Godavari and Kurnool (over 40 per cent).A In the urban areas, Hyderabad district witnessed the decade's highest child population growth rate of slightly over 60 per cent, followed by Ranga Reddy below that figure. The high rate among the females of about 50 was witnessed in the two neighbouring districts.

The highest child sex ratio of 960 (rural) in 2011 was recorded in West Godavari, while the lowest 900 was in Warangal. In 2001, Visakhapatnam had a high ratio of 980 and Mahbubnagar had a low of slightly over 940.A In the urban areas, the child sex ratio in 2011 was high in West Godavari that is 970 while the lowest, 920, was in Chittoor district. In 2001, the highest ratio of more than 980 was recorded by East Godavari, while the lowest, 940, was in Adilabad district.
