- Chalo Assembly and Sadak Bandh on cards - Nagam's TNS makes its debut at the meeting

kodan2Hyderabad: The Telangana Joint Action Committee, which has been holding series of protests at the State-level for the last three years, has decided to take the fight for separate Telangana to the national capital according to TJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram.

Talking to media after the extended steering committee meeting held at Nacharam on Friday, he said that the 'Sansad Yatra' would be held from April 24 to 26 coinciding with the budget session of the Parliament.

Prof.Kodandaram said that they would conduct a two-day deeksha in New Delhi besides meeting key leaders of the opposition parties. "Our main aim is to impress upon opposition parties to raise the Telangana issue and corner the UPA government in the ensuing session of the parliament," the TJAC chief pointed out.

He stated that atleast 3000 to 4000 Telangana activists would take part in the Sansad Yatra. Kodandaram further stated that programmes like Chalo Assembly and Sadak Bandh were lined up for the next two months. He said that in view of the high temperatures this summer, some members suggested that the road blockade programme on the Vijayawada route be organised during night (6 pm to 6 am). They felt that it would directly affect the Seemandhra capitalists, who operate their bus services around that time.

TJAC discussed about strengthening the organisation at the grass-root level by constituting village and district level committees. According to Kodandaram, this exercise would be completed by the end of this month.

The meeting also passed few resolutions demanding the government to give compensation to the farmers who were affected due to the hailstorms in the Telangana region on par with the amount given to Andhra farmers affected by Nilam cyclone. It also sought payment of ex-gratia to the Vikarabad blast victims along the lines of Dilsukhnagar twin blasts victims. Etela Rajender, D Shravan (TRS), Ashok Kumar Yadav, Sudhakar Sharma (BJP), C Vittal, Addanki Dayaker, G Rajender Reddy and other members attended the meeting.

TNS representatives attend meeting The endless wait for Nagam Janardhan Reddy's Telangana Nagara Samithi to be a part of TJAC is finally over. Nagam deputed two of his representatives after being extended an invitation for the crucial meet.

Meanwhile, the BJP raised the topic of the general elections and the TJAC's role during the meet. With the TRS openly declaring its intentions to contest all the 17 MP seats in the Telangana, the BJP wanted to know about the role of other pro-Telangana parties which are actively involved in the agitation.

The BJP leaders felt that fighting amongst themselves or entering as rivals in the elections would send wrong signals, and said that it is high time that the TJAC finds an amicable solution to this important issue.
