T party meeting to select candidates in 10 districts

Hyderabad: With Panchayat poll bugle likely to be sounded anytime, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has started to shift its focus to local body elections. The pro-Telangana party will be holding mandal-level extended meetings from June 26 to 30 in ten districts to select candidates, besides devising strategies for ensuing elections.

Senior leader Kadiyam Srihari chaired a review meeting with district presidents and in-charges at Telangana Bhavan on Monday. Midway, party supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao joined the meeting that discussed a range of issues, including local body polls, recently concluded training classes and strengthening the party at grass root level.

Later addressing a press conference, Kadiyam Srihari informed that henceforth their objective would be to transform TRS into a reckoning political force while simultaneously fighting for statehood cause. Another meeting with district presidents would be held again on July 3, he added.

KK opposes T package Meanwhile, TRS secretary general K Keshav Rao stated that his party would oppose package for Telangana, tooth and nail. "Our goal is separate state and nothing else. Not only TRS, every Telanganite would out rightly reject in case UPA comes up with such a proposal," he said.
