Bhuvanagiri (Nalgonda): Rajya Sabha Member V Hanumanta Rao exhorted the weaker sections in the society to strive to wield power to achieve social justice.Addressing the public meeting organized by Shepherds Association's 'Maha Garjana' here on Wednesday, the senior Congress leader said that they were striving to secure reservations in the IITs and IIMs for the backward classes. "The social justice for backward classes could be achieved

if they enter the legislative assemblies," he added.A He said that out of the 12 MLAs in Nalgonda district, only three belong to SC and ST and the rest of the nine MLAs belonged to upper castes. There was no proper representation for backward classes though they form fifty per cent of the population in the country, he said.

TRS MLA Eetela Rajendar said that the government was issuing GOs but miserably failing in implementing the same. He demanded various concessions and exemptions to the shepherds as given to the corporate companies. Vimalakka, chief of Arunodaya Sanskrutika Mandali, recalled the humiliations meted out to the Oggu artistes in the world Telugu conference at Tirupati and said that the politicians never expressed their regret over the incidents. "Even if Telangana is achieved these politicians would not do justice to the shepherd community," she remarked.

She said that if Telangana was not achieved by 2014, it could never be achieved.A State BC Association president Krishnaiah said that GO Nos 559 and 1000 should be implemented immediately.
