Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday made a fervent appeal to the people of Andhra Pradesh to maintain peace and tranquility at any cost. He said in a democracy people had the right to protest and agitate, but should not indulge in violence and destruction of public property.

The Chief Minister reviewed the latest situation in the state with Chief Secretary P K Mohanty and other senior officials at Camp Office on Thursday morning. He asked Mohanty and Director General of Police Dinesh Reddy to direct all superintendents of police and other police officials to maintain law & order in a peaceful manner and at the same time not to allow any violence and destruction.

The Chief Minister said that peace should be maintained in the state at any cost. He recalled the great contributions made by national leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. He appealed to the people not to damage the statues of national leaders.
