Botcha admits he and CM signed resolution on United Andhra

Hyderabad: PCC president Botcha Satyanaryana on Monday admitted that he and the Chief Minister had signed the resolution in support of Samaikya Andhra at the meeting they had with Seemandhra leaders on Saturday. At a press conference, he turned down the demand for their resignation.

He said if they resigned who would make their voice heard in the state Assembly. Indicating that there was no scope for reversing the decision to carve a separate state, Botcha said that the focus now was on how to overcome the apprehensions and the problems likely to be faced by the employees of Seemandhra, the doubts being expressed by the youth in regard to their job opportunities etc.

This problem had arisen because all important national institutes were located in Hyderabad. Condemning the destruction of the statues of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Botcha said it was a heinous act. He said if the miscreants did not stop such acts, the government would have to take tough measures. He alleged that some people were indulging in such acts for narrow political gains.

Denying the allegation by opposition party leaders that the Congress high command had taken a unilateral decision in regard to division of the state, Botcha said the Congress had taken the decision only after prolonged consultations with various leaders and parties. He called upon the political parties to stop the malicious propaganda.
