Hyderabad: Glowing tributes were paid by people of Telangana and even by those living across the states and beyond to Prof Kothapalli Jayashankar, leading ideologue and the spirit behind the T renaissance, celebrating his 79th birth anniversary on Tuesday.

The dawn of the new state, which is believed to be certain with the CWC deciding in favour of statehood, was dedicated to the departed leader. The whole of Telangana was aggrieved with the fact that the great leader was no more with the people he inspired and exhorted to fight for statehood when his dream had almost come true.

KCR garlands Jayashankar’s statue

Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao garlanded the statue of Prof. Jayashankar in Telangana Bhavan. Key leaders of the party were also present. Meanwhile, the women’s wing of the party distributed sarees to poor women on the occasion.

Rich tributes were paid to the leader near the Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun park by a host of Telangana leaders including the TNGOs president Devi Prasad, the Telangana Gazetted officers’ Association President, Srinivas Goud, TNGOs general secretary Ravinder Reddy, Senior Jouranalist and T JAC co–chairman Mallepalli Laxmaiah and Telangana Vidyavantula Vedika general Secretary, Pittala Ravinder.

TRLD leaders pay homage

Speaking on the occasion, TRLD secretary general called upon the youth of the region to draw inspiration from Jayashanker’s life. He also lashed out at YSRC leader Sharmila for hurting the sentiments of Telangana public by comparing Hyderabad with Pakistan.

Employees recall services

Leading constituents of the Telangana Employees JAC-TNGO, TGO and TUS organized programmes at their respective offices and recalled the services of the Telangana ideologue Prof. Jayashankar. Jayashankar selflessly fought for Telangana cause till the last breath, employees said.

Telangana Udyogula Sangham (TUS) publicity secretary Kaleru Suresh informed that they adopted resolution to demand the new government in Telangana to officially christen Jayashankar as ‘Father of Telangana’ besides holding the death and birth anniversaries on grand scale every year.

Mint Compound , Vidyut Soudha

Telangana Electricity Engineers JAC conducted a meeting at Mint Compound on the occasion. MLC Swamy Goud, Sivaji, V Srinivas Goud, G Deviprasad and others took part. Electricity employees and leaders garlanded the statue of Telangana ideologue on the occasion. Likewise, Telangana Electricity Employees JAC organized a programme in Vidyut Soudha premises.

Osmania and JNTU

Meanwhile, members of Telangana Students JAC celebrated Prof Jayashankar birth anniversary near Arts College in Osmania University. They dedicated the Telangana announcement by Congress high command to ‘Jayashankar sir’ as he was fondly addressed in the region.

GHMC staff

Meanwhile, GHMC employees under the aegis of the recognized Greater Hyderabad Municipal Employees Union (GHMEU) paid tributes to Telangana ideologue at corporation main office near Tank Bund. Speaking on the occasion, the union president U Gopal said that Jayashankar had fought for Telangana till his last breath.

Statue unveiled at Cherlapally

Telangana Industrialists’ Federation’s Sadbhavana sabha, which was held at Jayashankar Chowrastha, Cherlapally, on occasion of Professor Kothapalli Jayashankar’s 79th anniversary, in a grand manner. The event was marked with the presence of leaders from all pro-Telangana political leaders, leaders of different JACs, industrial workers, artistes and general public. Folks dances and Telangana songs were sung by the artists. Mallepalli Laxmaiah TJAC co chairman, said that the event was a paradox of happiness and sorrow going together, happiness for achieving Telangana and sorrow for not having Prof Jayashankar on the dias.

Vidyasagar Rao wondered why everybody was worried about their security post-Telangana formation.
Namasta Telangana editor Allam Narayana said that 80 per cent companies in Cherlapalli were owned by Seemandhra investors. He said that the intention behind the Sadbhavana Sabha was only to create a peaceful and harmonious relationship between the people of all regions who have been living in Hyderabad. TRS MLA Etela Rajender credited Prof Jayashankar for drafting the statement, which was read out by Chidambaram in December 2009.

Professor Kodandaram said that on every street on Tuesday, meetings were being held to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prof Jayashankar, who stood as the guiding force for the movement all these years.
