KCR1Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Tuesday alleged there was a plot to eliminate its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and sought Z plus security for his protection. Senior party leaders T Harish Rao and Etela Rajender said they had concrete evidence on who offered 'supari' to kill their leader. "It will be foolish to assume that Telangana process can be stalled with physical annihilation," they said. Terming the plot as an act of cowardice, the leaders stated that the entire region would be on the boil if any harm was done to their president.

They demanded that the government beef up security for KCR. Upon their request, the police has given 8 plus 8 constables for round the clock security. Metal door frames will be set up at his residence and office. He has also been provided with an escort vehicle and bullet proof vehicle according to intelligence sources. The request to provide Z plus security has been referred to the security committee which will assess the situation and take a decision. At present KCR has 4 plus 4 security. TRS sources stated that KCR received some threatening phone calls after the Congress high command had taken a decision to concede Telangana.

Rajender informed that a TRS delegation met Intelligence DG seeking enhanced security cover for him. “We put forward three demands - replacement of the old bullet proof vehicle, deployment of additional police forces at programmes attended by TRS chief and increase in security cover. It has been more than three days since we submitted application but there is no response yet,” he lamented.

Security was tightened in 2011

As the intelligence agencies which sensed threat to the life of TRS chief during Sakala Janula Samme period(September-October 2011), the security cover for Chandrasekhar Rao was reviewed.
