Hyderabad: Secretariat, the hub of all State government’s activities, wore a deserted look on Thursday with employees from all departments taking part in the programmes organised by Seemandhra and Telangana groups. The employees of Secretariat Seemandhra Employees Forum (SSEF) conducted blood donation camp from 11 am to 4 pm on the day where about 100 employees donated their blood. Forum president U Muralikrishna said that the employees came forward voluntarily to donate the blood and added that they would hand over the blood to MNJ Cancer Hospital.
Referring to their future course of agitation plan, he said that the employees would continue their protest rallies and dharnas in Secretariat till September 2 against the State’s division. He said that they would go on indefinite strike from midnight of September 2.
When asked about the High Court direction on employees strike, he said that they had their honour on the courts and will face the legal issues in the court of law only. He said the affidavit that came before the High Court was not ‘public interest litigation’. “We have our own objections on the information noted in the PIL. It is wrong that we organised stirs on the same issue earlier,” he said, adding that they would not go back from the present stir until the Centre rolls back its decision on bifurcation.
Responding to Telangana Employees JAC request to take back the strike notice, he said that they never raised any objection when Telangana employees had gone on 41-day strike. “We are hoping the T employees would show the same spirit now,” he added.
On the other hand, the employees led by Secretariat Telangana Coordination Association (STCA) have taken out peace rally appealing the Seemandhra employees to extend their cooperation for T formation. They released pigeons as a symbolic gesture of peace. The rally which started from K Block ended at C Block. Holding placards, the employees staged dharna before Samata block and raised slogans in favour of Telangana.
Addressing the rally, STCA president Narender Rao said that the capitalists from Seemandhra have been provoking T people with their agitations. “It is ridiculous to say that Hyderabad was developed because of them,” he said, adding that this was not a valid reason to ask for a unified State. He said that the government is voluntarily not responding to the strike notice of APNGOs.
