The central ministers and MPs from Telangana region on Tuesday called on the Antony Committee and made a strong plea to speed up the process of carving out the separate Telangana state. Countering the allegations by the Seemandhra ministers, MPs and other leaders who during past few days have been telling the party high command that the centre should make some via media statement like its willingness to consider according the status of Union Territory to Hyderabad if the ongoing agitation in the Seemandhra region has to subside, the T leaders made it clear to the committee that such a proposal was unacceptable to them. They were said to have told the committee the apprehensions being put forward by Seemandhra leaders in regard to those who are living Hyderabad were unfounded.

Hyderabad: The central ministers and MPs from Telangana region on Tuesday called on the Antony Committee and made a strong plea to speed up the process of carving out the separate Telangana state.
The situation in Hyderabad, they said was absolutely peaceful and there was no question of any trouble erupting even after the new state was formed. They however told the committee that if the government delayed the process it could lead to problems. The T leaders made it clear that nothing short of Telangana consisting of ten districts with Hyderabad as capital would be acceptable to them. However, they said they had no objection if Hyderabad remains as a joint capital for 10 years and during that period, the law and order can be with the Centre. This is the only via media that would be acceptable to them, they told the Committee.
Later speaking to media, Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana said the committee asked them about the apprehensions of the Seemandhra people who are staying in Hyderabad. He said they got an impression that Seemandhra leaders had raised doubts about the safety of the people from that region after the new state was formed. They had given examples of mounting tensions in government offices and tried to project that there was a vertical division.
Satyanarayana said they told the committee that when people from other states could stay and settle in Hyderabad without any problem, why the Telugus should fear anything. He said the Committee had called upon the people from both the regions to show restraint and assured that full justice would be done to all the regions. Those who met the Antony Committee included Union Ministers S Jaipal Reddy, Sarve Satyanarayana and MPs Ponnam Prabhakar, Madhu Yashki Goud, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Palvai Govardhan Reddy, R Ananda Bhaskar and Suresh Shetkar.
