GoM takes a holiday
GoM Takes a Holiday, Group of Ministers Meeting, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Division of the State. At the second Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting on Saturday, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde directed the various officials of the Centre to sit with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary and prepare a comprehensive report on all the issues involved in the division of Andhra Pradesh.

At the second Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting on Saturday, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde directed the various officials of the Centre to sit with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary and prepare a comprehensive report on all the issues involved in the division of Andhra Pradesh. The Centre and the State Government will thus be jointly preparing the roadmap for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. It will be taken up for consideration in the next meeting of the GoM on November 7 after the Diwali holidays. At the GoM meeting lasting a little over one hour, Shinde said the Terms of Reference were discussed.
All the issues involved in the division of the State were discussed threadbare, it was felt that a comprehensive report on these issues should be prepared in consultation with the officials of the Andhra Pradesh Government. This assumes significance as the GoM, itself, is not visiting Andhra Pradesh for an on-the-spot interaction and consultations with the State Government. Now the officials concerned from the Centre have been advised to prepare reports on all issues involved in the process of creation of Telangana in consultation with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary.
In response to the request of the Ministry of Home Affairs to email suggestions, nearly 2,000 emails were received. The officials were asked to sort out the emails Departments-wise and prepare reports on the same.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh and Minister of State for Personnel and PMO V Narayanasamy were present in the meeting.
“The Group of Ministers decided that more time should be given to enable the political parties, public representatives and individuals to send their suggestions pertaining to the specific terms of reference of the Group of Ministers. These may be sent on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs (mha.nic.in/gom.htm) or could be sent by post to the following address: Director (CS-II), Centre-State Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, 5th Floor, B-Wing, NDCC-II Building, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi – 110 001. The suggestions should reach the Ministry of Home Affairs by 5th November, 2013,” the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a release.
