MLC Chukka Ramaiah has exhorted the students to study science not for the sake of marks but for undertaking research. He was the chief guest at the Science Fair organised in the Siddhartha Excellency School here on Wednesday.
Addressing the meeting, the educationist said that all science fairs should address the problems of the common man. He said that he always preferred to speak in Telugu during science fairs. “English should be used for the sake of communication but not for learning,” he added.
The MLC said that if we talked in English the words would come from the brain but we speak in Telugu the words would come from the heart. Referring to the suffix IIT to his name, he said that he never studied in any IIT nor he taught in any IIT. “IIT has become my surname since my students joined IITs,” he said.
He said that he had become proficient in mathematics since he joined an Urdu medium school and he could understand only mathematics nothing else. Science fairs should be aimed to bring awareness among the students regarding the problems of people, he averred.
School Principal Madhusudan Rao, Siddartha College Principal K Jayadev, Sri Ananta Padmanabha College Principal Shivaprakash and others were present.
