In view of recurring bus accidents, Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana advised the public to prefer travelling in APSRTC buses. He said that the RTC buses proved to be most safe. He observed that APSRTC was operating a limited number of Volvo buses, though they proved costlier to the corporation, their fleet would be increased. The Minister informed that the government would consult experts for conducting safety drills and tips akin to those given in flights, for the safety of passengers during emergency. With regard to Wednesday’s tragic bus fire at Mahbubnagar, which left 45 persons killed, Botcha said necessary legal action would be taken against the owner of the bus -Diwakar Road Lines. Meanwhile, transport authorities conducted random checks at various places and over 450 private buses were seized.
