TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao said here on Monday that he was committed to build a green Telangana in which the poorest of the poor would live with self-respect.

He was here to visit the six check dams constructed at a cost of Rs. 8 crore on Pedda Vagu near Akkenapalli in the limits of Siddipet Assembly constituency at the initiative of Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao.

The check dams are full of water due to the recent heavy rain that will provide irrigation to 20,000 acres in about 20 villages in the mandal. The groundwater level has also gone up considerably solving the irrigation problem to the farmers for the next two years.

In this connection, a meeting was organised at Akkenapalli check dam which was attended by hundreds of farmers from the nearby villages.

Addressing the meeting, KCR recalled that the people of Siddipet have blessed him when started agitation for Telangana state 12 years ago which has now become a reality.

He said that after the formation of Telangana, a new district would be carved out with Siddipet as headquarters. He promised that Godavari water would be brought to Siddipet to bring 3.5 lakh acres under cultivation.

KCR said that the Central Government had sanctioned a railway line from Hyderabad to Karimnagar via Siddipet. However, the work was stalled as the State Government did not release its share so far, he added.

He said that the TRS had prepared a special manifesto and it would be implemented by all means. He instgructed the Siddipet MLA, Harish Rao to sanction more funds to construct more check dams in the district.

Stating that Telangana would become number one state in the country, KCR said that satellite townships would be built in one hundred kilometers distance around Hyderabad. “Hyderabad would be transformed into a pollution-free city,” he added.

Priority would be given to education, medical, cinema fields for overall development, he said.

T Harish Rao, Swamy Goud, Sudhakar Reddy, Kadiam Srihari, Gangula Kamalakar, Eetela Rajendar, Vidyasagar Rao, former MLA Ramalinga Reddy, Padma Devendar Reddy and others were present.
