The AP State Road Transport Corporation on Monday hiked the bus fares by 9.7 per cent. The hike will come into effect from the first service on Wednesday. The latest hike will fetch the fund strapped corporation Rs 500 crore a year.
The minimum fare in Pallevelugu (rural ordinary) is going to remain same at Rs 5. The minimum bus fare in city ordinary bus was increased to Rs 6 against Rs 5. Minimum fare in Metro Express has been increased from Rs 6 to Rs 7. There seems to be a differential hike against the rural and city services, as the corporation increased the fare by a few paise every kilometer in rural service.
