Don’t delay Telangana State formation: Narayana

Accusing the Congress party of fuelling tensions between the people of different regions, CPI State Secretary K Narayana appealed to the Centre not to delay the political process for formation of Telangana any further.

Of late, demands had come from certain quarters that the Telangana process should not be taken up until various technical committees submitted their reports. But, the creation of the State was a political process and not a technical one, he pointed out.

The three-day state council meeting of the Left party at Yapral on the city outskirts concluded on Thursday.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, Narayana urged the Centre to issue instructions to the technical committees to expedite their work, without slowing down the political process.

The Left leader appealed to the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to set aside his personal agenda and co-operate with the Centre for the smooth division of the state. “CPI will demand that the Union government declare the capital for the residuary state, besides announcing a package for development of Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra, in our meeting with the GoM on November 12," he said. He added that he, along with Gunda Mallesh and J Wilson, would take part in the all-party meet.

Narayana took the opportunity to lash out at TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. He predicted that the TDP was sure to lose ground in both regions because of its two-eyed stance. Modi, who was responsible for Godhra riots, would not garner votes to come to power in the next elections, he added.

The three-day council meeting adopted a resolution to organise ‘Chalo Parliament' on December 12 in support of trade union demands.
