Samaikyandhra agitation completes 100 days

The agitation has continued since then in all 13 districts of the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.

"This agitation is unparallelled, as common people from all walks of life remained its driving force," political analyst N Radhakrishna observed.

After striking work for about two months, government employees, teachers and Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APRTC) workers called a "temporary halt" to their indefinite strike last month to avoid inconvenience to people, burdened due to natural calamities.

"We will re-launch our strike if the Centre goes ahead with its plan to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh," Samaikhyandhra Protection Committee chief P Ashok Babu said.

Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao's threat that all people from the Seemandhra region should leave the city once Telangana is created, has only added fuel to the fire.

For now, people from Seemandhra appear in no mood to call off their agitation as the Centre is getting ready with its plans to bifurcate the state before the next general elections.
