Kiran Slammed Left & Right, Upcoming General Elections. AIKMS General Secretary Chittipati Venkateshwarlu announced that the organisation would conduct protests all over the State, demanding redistribution of assigned lands to Dalits, Adivasis and the poor.
Recalling the failure of programmes like ‘Prajapadam’ in addressing people’s problems, CPM State Secretary B V Raghavulu on Monday said the ‘Rachabanda’ was being used to gain mileage in the upcoming General Elections by the Chief Minister. Listing out the government’s failures, Raghavulu pointed out that only 4.39 lakh identity cards for farm labourers were issued as against the target of 14.55 lakh cards during the year 2013-14. And only 1.14 lakh of them were given loans totalling Rs 231.70 crore.
Since December last, seven natural calamities had destroyed the crops. But till now no statistics were available with the government. He demanded that the government provide at least Rs 10,000 per acre to farmers who lost their crop to the floods, which also claimed 60 lives.
Meanwhile, the All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha (AIKMS), which held a meeting of its working committee, gave a call to foil the ‘Rachabanda’ programme. The leadership also decided to hinder the proceedings of the seventh phase of land distribution to be conducted on November 17.

A waste of time: Dattatreya
BJP National Vice-President Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday asked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy not to waste public money by holding the last phase of Rachabanda programme. In his 77th Open Letter to the Chief Minister, Dattatreya said that holding Rachabanda programme at a time when the process of bifurcation of the State was on would lead to avoidable problems. The State, he said, was already facing several problems due to mishandling of the Telangana issue by both the Central and the State governments. “There is no governance in the State. Almost everyone is keeping away from you because of your opposition to the decision of the Congress Working Committee to divide the State. Even your party’s Central leadership does not believe you,” he said. Dattatreya pointed out that ministers from Telangana and a minister from Srikakulam had boycotted the Chief Minister’s programme earlier.
