Protest Against Arrest of Visalandhra Leaders, Joint Action Committee, State-Wide Bandh. Following the call given by the Joint Action Committee of private educational institutions for State-wide bandh in protest against the arrest of the leaders of Visalandhra Mahasabha in Delhi, Samaikyandhra JAC activists have taken out massive rally here on Monday.

The rally which started from Ambedkar Bhavan reached Raj Vihar Centre where the activists squatted on the road staging rasta roko. Later the rally reached the Collectorate and the activists raised slogans in favour of united Andhra Pradesh at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The activists have later formed a human chain at NTR Circle.
Samaikyandhra JAC leader Pullaiah addressingthe meeting said that the major political parties who had submitted letter to the CWC in favour of division of the state, had now taken aback after witnessing the Samaikyandhra agitation throughout the State.
He said that the Congress has been going ahead with the division of the State only to get political mileage though all the opposition parties were against it. He recalled that even leaders like Digvijay Singh has admitted that Telangana would become a backward State after the division.
The JAC leader said that the Opposition leaders have submitted letters hoping that justice would be done to all the three regions of the State. However, these political parties now cry foul over the way the State was being divided, he added.
Even the major political parties assured the JAC leaders that the division would not take place, he recalled.
Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress parties have also launched agitation here in protest against the illegal arrest of Visalandhra Mahasabha leaders.
YSR Congress activists have taken out a rally from their party office to the Raj Vihar Centre where they had burnt down the effigy of the UPA Government. They raised slogans against the UPA Government.
YSR Congress Kodumuru Assembly segment in-charge Mani Gandhi, city convener Balaraju, YSRTUC convener TV Ramana, Sharif, Salim, Zaheer, Ahmad Khan, Maddaiah, Raghavendra, woman leader Narayanamma and others participated.
The TDP leaders staged rasta roko at Visweswaraiah Circle in the city. District unit president Somisetty Venkateswarlu that it was unbecoming of the UPA Government to arrest the integrationists who tried to submit a memorandum. He said that theywould continue the struggle for the united AP.
