The unscheduled meeting which PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana had with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and other ministers of the GoM on Tuesday afternoon raised many an eyebrow.

Political circles here feel that once again the Congress high command was indulging in a double game. They feel that Botcha’s meeting with GoM for about 30 minutes was a strategic move on the part of the Congress high command. They, perhaps, wanted to convey to the GoM that the party was bound by the CWC decision on the issue of bifurcation though it had sent two representatives representing Telangana and the Seemandhra regions. It also wanted to avoid criticism that the state Congress president failed to meet the GoM. The GoM is learnt to have sought information from Botcha about the political situation in the state.

On record, Botcha told the media that he was called by GoM to find out who were representing the state Congress for the meeting.

Reacting to Botcha’s meeting with GoM, TDP said this had proved that the Congress party was treating the issue of bifurcation as a personal issue. Party leader, E Dayakar Rao said, the party and the Government needs to explain why it called the PCC president and gave 30 minutes of its time when two of its representatives were scheduled to meet the GoM later in the evening. This further strengthened the party charge that Congress was cheating the people, he added.
