A senior IPS officer in Assam, Vijaya Krishna Ramisetti, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, has done his home State proud by his actions. The NHPC officer was kidnapped by the militants in September in a deep jungle on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The militants demanded Rs 20 crore ransom to set him free. The Assam government assigned the task of rescuing the official to Vijaya Krishna, who belongs to Tiruvur town in Krishna district. He devised a strategy and executed it ably and rescued the NHPC official in the small hours of Tuesday. On learning the news, the elated family members, relatives and friends congratulated him. Vijaya Kirshna studied at TJPS College in Guntur, at Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada and at Central University in Hyderabad. He joined the IPS in 1998 and has since been serving in Assam.
