Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy postponed his ‘Rachabanda’ scheduled on Wednesday in Veltur of Sadasivapeta mandal in the district. He had agreed to hold the programme in Sangareddy constituency, at the invitation of MLA Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy.
Deputy Chief Minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha, several Telangana ministers and MLAs had opposed the programme, as Kiran Reddy has taken a stand favoring a unified Andhra Pradesh even after the Congress Working Committee endorsed its bifurcation. They had also decided to boycott ‘Rachabanda’
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti and Telangana Joint Action Committee had called upon people of the district to boycott the programme and gave a call for a district bandh on Wednesday. There was palpable tension the district. However, they cancelled the bandh after the decision to postpone the programme was announced.
It is learnt that Ministers from the district, Geetha Reddy and Sunita Lakshma Reddy, met the Chief Minister on Tuesday and pleaded with him to postpone his programme in view of the opposition to it within the ruling party. Following their request he agreed to postpone ‘Rachabanda’.
