TDP on Tuesday resolved to launch a protest against delay in providing relief and compensation to the victims of heavy rains and Cyclone Phailin.
Speaking at the valedictory of the party’s two-day brain storming session for Telangana party leaders here, party president N Chandrababu Naidu called upon the cadres to stage dharnas in all Assembly constituencies on November 16, demanding that the government immediately release compensation to the victimised farmers who lost their standing crops in the rains and increase input subsidy for agriculture in the ensuing Rabi season .
Accusing the Centre of failure to depute a central team to ascertain the damage in the rain-ravaged districts, he said the State government was also showing indifference to the farmers’ plights. Forgetting their duties in the crucial time, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his cabinet colleagues were in deep slumber, he alleged.
Demanding that government to display the details of the damages caused due to the recent floods in all the gram panchayats concerned, Naidu said the Congress government both at the Centre and in the State had lost the people’s faith with their ‘anti-people’ policies. The ruling Congress would soon bite the dust in the next general election, he said. He exhorted the party’s rank and file to expose Congress’ ‘opportunistic’ politics in the State.
