The 1969 Telangana Movement Founders Forum and the Voice of Telangana on Wednesday criticised senior BJP leader L K Advani of distorting history to boost Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s image and belittle Jawaharlal Nehru. Bharatiya Janata Party was resorting to these actions to gain political mileage in 2014 general elections, the organisations said.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Chiranjeevi Kolluri and Captain L Panduranga Reddy said that it was not right on the part of BJP to bring Nizam into picture in its fight with Congress over the legacy of Vallabhbhai Patel. “Vallabhbhai Patel was bent upon invading Hyderabad State, and he did it even when the Standstill Agreement was in force. It is not correct to blame Nehru. Kashmir issue was taken to the notice of UNO through a cabinet decision. Vallabhbhai Patel did not object then. Now, the BJP is blaming Nehru,” they rued.
