Terming the all-party meeting convened by the GoM as an eyewash, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday charged the Congress party with lacking in commitment on the Telangana issue.
The Union government wanted all parties to blindly support its move, even though the Group of Ministers (GoM) did not have clarity on many issues. In fact, it does not seem to have formed any opinion on the contentious issues, the saffron party said.
Addressing a press conference here, the party state president G Kishan Reddy said that while BJP was in favour of carving out the separate Telangana state and that the T Bill be introduced during the winter session of parliament, it was also of the firm view that the Centre needed to address the apprehensions of Seemandhra people on issues like sharing of water, education, employment and others before introducing the Bill. Meanwhile, the BJP leader criticised the TDP for boycotting the all-party meeting. He said Chandrababu Naidu’s stand was not clear and there was no single opinion amongst its leaders from different regions. He said the TDP should understand that the division of the State was inevitable. If the Congress went back on its promise, the BJP would ensure that T State became a reality, he added.
