Fearing that the Telangana region may lose out to Seemandhra, when the Centre would finally come up with recommendations regarding benefits and packages, a huge delegation of Ministers, MLAs and MLCs from Telangana under the leadership of Minister for Panchayat Raj K Jana Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha would be leaving for Delhi on Friday.

Speaking to media persons, Jana Reddy said they would meet the members of Group of Ministers (GoM) and would oppose all the points that were not acceptable to the people of the region. He said that the reported recommendations of AK Antony Committee had created apprehensions among the people of the Telangana on several issues like transferring of Bhadrachalam to the residuary state and declaring the entire HMDA area as joint capital and other such issues. The T Congress leaders feel that the Seemandhra leaders in Delhi were strongly lobbying for HMDA region as they have real estate interests in areas that fall under the HMDA which extends up to Bhongir.

On Friday, these leaders will meet the Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy who will take the lead in explaining to the members of GoM about the problems that could arise if the recommendations go against the letter and spirit of the CWC resolution to carve out Telangana consisting of 10 districts with Hyderabad as capital.

“Truncated Telangana will erode the party’s image and credibility,” the T leaders claim. The T leaders will insist that the joint capital should not be extended beyond the revenue district of Hyderabad. They will also strongly oppose merger of Bhadrachalam with East Godavari district.
