Youth succumbs to burn injuries

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old youth, who immolated himself near Miyapur police station on Friday evening, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Sunday morning.

It may be recalled that Vikram Kumar, hailing from Prem Nagar in Hafeezpet, resorted to the extreme step by immolating himself after dousing himself with kerosene near the police station. Police and local residents rushed him to Gandhi Hospital where he died after battling for life for about 36 hours. He reportedly committed suicide following harassment of the police.

“Investigation is under progress. The motive behind his suicide is yet to be ascertained,” said Miyapur police.

Hailing from Karnataka, Vikram lost his parents a few years ago. A case of suspicious death was registered. The body was handed over to his brother after conducting autopsy.
