Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress party for indulging in opportunistic politics on the issue of State’s bifurcation. He alleged that the Congress was creating serious differences between the people of the two regions by giving scope for leakages on contentious issues. This was resulting in claims, counter claims, accusations and counter accusations, he rued.

Naidu was also critical of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for harping on prospects of spurt in Naxalism, terrorism and water wars between the two States, in his big to stall the process of bifurcation.

He said Kiran Kumar Reddy should have raised his voice and argued on these issues when the Congress party forged an alliance with the TRS in 2004.

If Kiran thought that the party high command had bulldozed him by taking a decision on State’s bifurcation, he should have resigned, he said.

When pointed out that there were speculations that the BJP would put hurdles in passing the T Bill, by raising objections on the contents of the bill, Naidu said that BJP was firmly in favour of separate Telangana.
