Bhadrachalam creates division in state BJP

Hyderabad: There is a clear split in the state BJP as far as Bhadrachalam issue is concerned, similar to AP Congress. Congressmen from Telangana and Seemandhra regions are vehemently claiming rights over Bhadrachalam, the abode of Lord Rama, and now it is also seen in the saffron party.

While Seemandhra BJP leaders took a vow not to give up on Bhadrachalam division to facilitate construction of the controversial Polavaram project without hassles at a meeting held in Guntur two days earlier, Telangana leaders of the same party, as expected, took a contradictory stand.

During Telangana region meeting held here on Wednesday, several leaders elicited views on this subject and made a mention of the state party stand on the issue of creation of Telangana with ten districts including Hyderabad. This also meant no change of boundaries in ten districts which implies Bhadrachalam should remain with Telangana region only, leaders stressed. The meeting decided to send a team of state party leaders from Telangana to New Delhi when Telangana Bill would come up for discussion in parliament.

G Kishan Reddy, Bandaru Dattatreya, Ch Vidyasagar Rao, N Indrasena Reddy, Dr K Laxman, T Rajeshwar Rao, Endala Lakshminarayana besides office bearers and presidents of ten district units attended the meeting.
