Union Minister releases stamp on Satya Sai on his 88th birth anniversary
Puttaparthi: Attention should be devoted to develop the ‘most’ backward areas of Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra, said Union Minister Killi Kruparani here on Saturday.
Speaking after releasing a commemorative postal stamp on Satya Sai Baba, to mark his 88th birth anniversary, she laid stress on development of the two backward areas which was also pointed out by the Srikrishna Committee report.
She handed over the stamp to Satya Sai Trust member Mishra, and the trust’s annual report to Ministers N Raghuveera Reddy and J Geeta Reddy, besides the trust members.
Anantapur Collector Lokesh Kumar, trust members V R Ratnakar, Naganand, Bhagawati, MLA Palle Raghunatha Reddy, besides a large number of Sai devotees were present.
After visiting the Satya Sai Superspecality Hospital, the Minister talking to press persons appealed to the Satya Sai Trust should extend its welfare programmes to Srikakulam district. She praised Sai Baba as God (‘Kaliyuga Prathyiksha Daivam’), who rendered yeomen services in providing education, health and drinking water facilities in Chennai, Bengalure, Khammam, East and West Godavari, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, Kurnool and Anantapur areas.
In recognition of his services to the needy the UPA Government had released the stamp, Kruparani said. It was ready to release another stamp, ‘My Stamp’, on the Baba’s abode of ‘Prashanthi Nilayam’. The Minister observed that those not rendering ‘seva’ to people should be branded ‘traitors’.
