Hyderabad: Speaker Nadendla Manohar has finally decided to prorogue the state Assembly. It is learnt that he has sent his recommendation to Minister for Legislative Affairs D Sridhar Babu. As per rules, the Minister will have to sign the file and forward it to the Chief Minister who in turn will send it to the Governor.

It now remains to be seen if Sridhar Babu would sign the file and forward it to the Chief Minister or not. Interestingly, the Minister on Saturday morning told the media that he did not feel any need to prorogue the House now. Addressing media persons Sridhar Babu said that several doubts would be raised if the Assembly was prorogued in the present situation. He said that Telangana Ministers would meet the Speaker, Governor and Chief Minister to request them not to prorogue the Assembly.

He said the people of Telangana were not ready to give any scope to stall the T-process. “Usually the prorogation issue is a minor issue. But, it turned out to be a sensitive one and we have our own doubts on every issue at this juncture”, he said.

He also said that he did not see any issue on which an ordinance needed to be issued as was being claimed by the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister’s Office on Friday clarified that the Assembly was sought to be prorogued only in order to enable the government to issue an ordinance. However, the media was not informed about the subject of the ordinance. In the absence of any satisfactory clarification, rumours were making rounds that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is trying to create hurdles for the Assembly meet with a view to stalling Telangana Bill.
