Hyderabad: With cyclone Leher all set to make a landfall in the State in a few days, the APTransco on Monday directed the Discoms to fully gear up to face any eventuality and instructed the officials to take up all the precautionary measures to avoid power-related mishaps. Transco chairman and managing director Suresh Chanda held a review meeting with APEpdcl (Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd) and APSpdcl (Southern Power Distrbution Company Ltd) on electrical restoration works in cyclone Helen - affected areas. The CMD was informed that maintenance works were in full swing in coastal districts which were badly affected by Helen cyclone.


All the affected 108 sub-stations, and 96,000 services out of the affected 1.6 lakh services have been restored. The balance services could not be restored due to water logging, especially in Konaseema region, the officials informed. Further, the CMD directed the officials of the Discoms to deploy more special teams to ensure restoration of power as fast as possible and minimise the inconvenience caused to the public, when the cyclone Leher landfalls. He also advised that adequate stock of transformers, poles and other material be kept available at field offices so that works related to the power restoration could be completed without any delay.
Suresh appealed to general public, public representatives and local officials of to cooperate with the workers and officials of the power utilities in power supply restoration and rectification works.
