Anantapur: Keeping in view of the recent bus accidents in the State, we are taking effective measures to prevent road accidents, APSRTC MD AK Khan said. He attended the second day programme of the 21st State-level sports and cultural competitions at the Neelam Sanjiva Reddy Stadium in Anantapuramu on Wednesday.
Speaking with the media at the RTC Regional Manager’s office, Khan said as part of the security action, they introduced 300 new buses in the State with latest technology apparatus to prevent fire accidents. An action plan, which would enable the RTC to earn revenue about Rs 700 crore annually, had been prepared, he added. He said that they have taken all measures to run 230 buses in six main cities in the State under JNNURM scheme.
Stating that the RTC had incurred a loss of Rs 750 crore due to Samaikyandhra agitation, Khan said they were able to tide over the crisis by earning over Rs 350 crore. He exuded confidence that they will earn profits before the financial year ending March, 2014. A special plan has been prepared to protect the RTC properties and to increase the revenue from them, he added.
