Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday charged the Union government with making moves to merge Singareni Collieries with Coal India Limited, besides distributing the existing share of 51 per cent (held by Andhra Pradesh) to both Telangana and the residuary state after the division of the State. Addressing a press conference here, party spokesperson S Kumar said that directions were given to state officials to prepare proposals for distributing 25.5 per cent of Singareni shares each to both the new States.
It may be mentioned here that while State’s share was 51 per cent, the remaining (49 per cent) belonged to Central government owned Coal India Limited. Singareni Collieries formed in 1889 is the property of Telangana. It is not a common property to be distributed between both the States, he fumed.
