Hyderabad: Exuding confidence that the division of State would not take place under any circumstances, APNGOs president P Ashok Babu said that the bifurcation process was yet to go a long way before realising the new Telangana state. He claimed that the APNGOs was successful in forcing the Centre to ponder over various options. “We were successful in delaying the process of bifurcation for at least 60 days,” he said at an exclusive interview with HMTV news channel.

According to him, the 610 GO on water sharing and employment continues to be the most contentious issues that could not be resolved easily. If bifurcation takes place it would affect the Seemandhra region badly, therefore, he hoped that legislators would oppose the bifurcation move when it comes to the Assembly. Responding to questions from viewers, he held that violations over GO 610 during the regime of late chief minister NT Rama Rao, if ever took place, the aggrieved should have taken up the issues so that they could have received justice, eventually. However, he felt that this was not the right time to discuss the issue as the people have crossed that phase.

He said that APNGOs was eagerly waiting for TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to take a clear stand over the issue. Ashok Babu felt that Babu, who was disillusioned over the developments, had to take some bold decision. But it was unlikely that he would take a clear stand before the Bill reaches Assembly. “We are waiting for his response”, he said. In reply to a question, he reiterated that politicians were only focusing on ‘seats’, particularly Congress party. It has vested interests in the bifurcation. Ashok said that people would teach its leadership a lesson.

He felt that it was only because of the mandate the politicians were enjoying the power. Now, by not listening to people’s voices, they are cheating them. “Did you not seek votes from us, by folded hands?” he questioned.

When asked about the talk that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was backing him so that he could have a future in the residuary state of AP, he clarified that Kiran Kumar does not have any such plans, as on several occasions, the Chief Minister himself asked him to suspend the agitation, since people were suffering. He called on people from all sectors to participate in the next leg of the movement against bifurcation.
