Hyderabad: The APNGOs called on the state secretaries of the parties CPI and CPM with a view to seeking their support in opposing the Telangana Bill. But the CPI leadership made it clear that its pro-Telangana stand was irreversible. The CPI (M), however, responded positively to the request made by the organisation. The APNGOs invited both the parties to the all-party meeting it proposed to organise shortly on ‘Political uncertainty – Political parties and their future course’.
A delegation led by P Ashok Babu, president of the Association, in a meeting that lasted for an hour, tried to convince CPI state secretary K Narayana on the need to keep the State united. Later, speaking to media persons, Narayana described the bifurcation as a political process. The decision taken by the party was ‘irreversible’. While reassuring that all the issues of Seemandhra people would be resolved, he said that CPI fought for solving people’s problems and would continue to fight in future. “After carrying out deliberations over the issue of bifurcation we have already written to GoM”, he clarified. Narayana said that the request made by the APNGOs was not feasible as the policy adopted by party cannot be reversed. He sarcastically asked APNGOs leader to take along one ‘narco analyst’, while meeting the politicians. Ashok Babu lamented that the process of bifurcation was unilateral and the decision was taken after considering population of only one region.
The delegation also met CPM state secretary BV Raghavulu, who assured them that the party would fight against the Bill in the Assembly. Ashok Babu requested Raghavulu to be a part of the agitation to be taken up by the APNGOs in December.
Raghavulu said that the party will discuss the issue in their state secretariat meeting to be held on December 5.
