Death anniversaries of the great leaders observed

Kurnool: Noted advocate A Jyothy said that the present day youth should take inspiration from social revolutionaries like Jyothi Rao Phule and move forward in developing the society. Speaking on the occasion of the week-long observation of the death anniversaries of Dr B R Ambedkar and Phule, organized by the KVR College here on Sunday, she said that the concept of social justice gained momentum only due to the relentless struggles waged by Jyothi Rao Phule and Dr B R Ambedkar. “Now, people have an idea of social justice,” she said.
Jyothi lamented that enactments meant for the benefit of the backward classes were not being implemented properly. She said women should be enlightened about the laws and atrocities like domestic violence and dowry harassment against them, he said.


She said that Lok Adalats were setup in 2005 to provide instant justice and advised the Rayalaseema Nirmana Samithi members to organise awareness camps regarding Lok Adalats.


Speaking on the occasion, Rayalaseema Nirmana Samithi founder Janardhan said that Phule was a great visionary who wanted the emancipation of women as early as the 19th century and ensured that his wife was also educated in those days. He said that Phule was also responsible for setting up schools for girls and enhanced the female literacy levels.


Janardhan paid glowing tributes to Ambedkar for enacting several laws for protecting the interests of the backward classes and promoting social equality.
