VH launches ‘Telangana Chaitanya Rath Yatra’

Yadagirigutta: V Hanumantha Rao, member of the Rajya Sabha and AICC secretary, said here on Monday that he was taking up the Telangana ‘Chaitanya Rath Yatra’ for thanking party chief Sonia Gandhi. It was also intended to take the UPA Government’s welfare schemes closer to the people, he said while launching the ‘yatra’ in this temple town, in Nalgonda district.

VH claimed that the party came to power in 1989 after he took up a ‘rath yatra’; this will be repeated in 2014. He said the people desired ten districts of Telangana, without any conditions, along with Rayala-Telangana. Replying to a query, he asserted that was no question of according Union Territory status to Hyderabad.

Rao alleged that YSRCP leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was meeting leaders from other States just to secure pardon in the cases being investigated against him. The Kadapa MP, he pointed out, could not stop Telangana. Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy and several important party leaders took part in the yatra, which will go round in the district for three days. It will move in the Telangana region after the Parliament session ends.
