Bhongir (Nalgonda): Two girl students of Vatsalya Engineering College were killed and 25 others sustained injuries, when a mini-bus in which they were travelling crashed into a tree on Tuesday. The condition of nine of the injured was stated to be serious.

The victims were identified as Panjala Gowthami (18) of Rayipalli and Swathi (18) of Atmakur, both of whom were crushed to death in the vehicle itself.

The anguished cries of the injured rent the air, as passers-by rushed to their assistance. The accident reportedly

occurred due to over-speeding and the vehicle carrying more passengers than its capacity.

The mishap occurred within half-an-hour of leaving the college for Mothkur. About 40 students of ITI, MBA, pharmacy, and a degree college, run by the same management, packed themselves into the bus.

The vehicle turned topsy-turvy thrice after hitting a roadside tree between the villages of Kattepalli and Mustyalapalli in Bhongir mandal. The injured were rushed to Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad.

They were identified as David Raju, Chintapalli Shailaja, Kavita , Vanita, Sharada, Jyoti, Naresh, Boda Raju and Mounika.
