Only accident cases attended on humanitarian grounds

Hyderabad: The Medical Joint Action Committees (JAC) of Gandhi, Osmania, ENT, Niloufer and other hospitals responded overwhelmingly to the bandh call given by the TRS against the Rayala Telangana proposal, and boycotted their duties on Thursday in Hyderabad.

The JAC members conducted protest rallies and burnt effigies of GoM, central government on the hospital premises.

Telangana medical students, doctors, nurses and others staff actively took part in the protests. At Gandhi Hospital, doctors boycotted elective and emergency services and only serious accident cases were attended to on the humanitarian grounds. Outpatient services were completely stalled at Gandhi, Osmania, ENT and other government hospitals.

At Osmania Hospital, PG and House surgeon students, doctors and other hospital staff conducted protest rally by wearing black badges from Old building of OGH to OP. They all vent their voice strongly for Telangana with of 10 districts and fervently rejected the proposal RayalaTelangana.

“We have been fighting for separate Telangana for the last 60 years and we continue to do so until we achieve Telangana with10 districts,” said Dr Ramesh of Medical JAC, Gandhi Hospital. “There is no question of compromise on it,” he said.

Speaking at the protest rally conducted at Osmania Hospital, Dr Ramesh, president, Government Doctors Association, condemned the proposal of Rayala Telangana and criticised the ‘ignorant behavior’ of the Central government. He said they were determined for Telangana that comprises 10 districts. “With that demand only, we boycotted emergency and OP services,” he added.
