Hyderabad: Terming the creation of Telangana as a ‘ historical victory’ of the people of the T region, Union Minister for Science and Technology S Jaipal Reddy on Thursday said that Telangana people were indebted to AICC President Sonia Gandhi for accepting the long cherished dream of people of the T region.
Addressing the press in New Delhi after the Union Cabinet approved the ‘AP Re- Organization Bill,’ he said that the Centre owed moral responsibility to render justice to the people of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh. All the demands raised by the Seemandhra people would be addressed and satisfy them.
He lauded the struggles of the Telangana employees and paid tributes to the students and youth who sacrificed their lives to the cause of Telangana.
Reddy hoped that the Telangana bill would be introduced and adopted in the ongoing winter session of the Parliament. Stating that the Polvaram project would be taken up by the centre by allocating required funds as well as the execution of works, the union minister said that though Hyderabad was geographically part of Telangana, the state capital was very much part of the country and every Indian citizen have every right to enjoy the constitutional rights in the city. Minister for Information and Public Relations (I&PR) D K Aruna expressed her elation at the Union Cabinet’s approval for the creation of Telangana State, exactly as per the decision of the Congress Working Committee. She said that the Congress had been saying it would create the T State with 10 districts. She hoped that the T Bill would soon be introduced in Parliament to pave way for creation of Telangana State at the earliest.
