Heavy police deployment at leaders’ houses, statues and government offices across Seema and Nellore districts

Anantapur/Tirupati/Guntur/Nellore: The Anantapur district police deployed unprecedented security on Thursday by fencing the statues of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and other leaders and beefing up forces at the residences of state ministers including S Sailajanath. They are on guard at the houses of the Congress leaders, important roads, besides Sri Krishnadevaraya University here.

The CRPF jawans also undertook a march past in the town Security was also enhanced at the offices of various political parties. Government establishments were barricaded to prevent crowds from ransacking them. Police will guard government offices during nights. The police are keeping a close watch on the leaders of the Samaikyandhra agitation. They have opened bind-over cases against the leaders. The police are also placed on alert in Dharmavaram, Kadiri, Hindupur and other towns in the district and asked to be ready to face any situation in the backdrop of the Centre announcing its final decision on Telangana.

The police action followed intelligence reports which indicated the likelihood of violence erupting in the district as soon as the Centre makes its decision on Telangana official. They are leaving no stone unturned in tightening the security and maintaining law and order.

In Tirupati, Guntur and Nellore, security has been stepped up at the houses of MPs Chinta Mohan, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Union Ministers J D Seelam, Panabaka Lakshmi, State Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad and senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu.
