Hyderabad: A day after the Union Cabinet approved the draft T Bill, the Seemandhra leaders in the State are gearing up for the last fight and want to ensure that the T Bill is defeated in Assembly and later in Parliament.

The Seemandhra leaders, who met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his Camp Office on Friday for over two-and-a-half hours, decided to lobby with all the Seemandhra MLAs cutting across party lines. They want to ensure that the Seemandhra MLAs press for a no division, so that the Draft Bill can be defeated. This, they feel will help them in stalling the process from moving further.

Interestingly, Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu also took a tough stance against the ‘bulldozing’ of the Centre in clearing the draft T Bill. This, the CMs camp feels will be an added advantage to them in defeating the bill in the Assembly.

The meeting convened by the Chief Minister was attended by Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Sake Sailajanath, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Erasu Pratap Reddy, T G Venkatesh and N Raghuveera Reddy along with some MLAs from the region.

Prominent among the absentees were Ministers Kanna Lakshminarayana, Dokka Manikya Vara Prasada Rao and P Bala Raju. Though Sailajanath said that this does not indicate any fissures among them, it is learnt that these ministers had fallen in line with the high command and were not in a mood to sail with the Chief Minister.

According to sources, during the meeting, Kiran Reddy tried to instill confidence among the ministers that he would use all options, including challenging the bill in the Supreme Court to keep the State united.

Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Raghuveera Reddy, Ganta and Sailajanath have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring floor-coordination with these parties.
