Huge fire breaks out at chemical unit godown in Jeedimetla

Hyderabad/Nalgonda: Two persons were feared killed on Sunday in a powerful blast at an explosives factory in Nalgonda. According to Chityal SI Nagadurga Prasad, the duo, Raju, the supervisor, and Srinu, a security guard, were not traceable and hence were suspected to have been burnt to death.

The blast took place in Ideal Industrial Explosives Ltd in Chityal of Nalgonda district. The high intensity of the explosion gutted the entire unit and left no evidence, the SI said.

In an accident at Jeedimetla, in Hyderabad, fire broke out in a godown of a chemical factory on Sunday, reducing several tonnes of stored chemicals to ashes. However, “there were no causalities so far, though heavy property loss was reported,” said Jeedimetla Inspector M Sudarshan.

Fire and rescue service personnel were alerted immediately. Seven fire tenders from Jeedimetla, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad, Kukatpally, Moulali, Madhapur and a Snorkel from Paradise were rushed to the spot. They took about three hours to douse the flames. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
