Guntur: Revolutionary Leftist leader and former MP Madala Narayana swamy (99) died here on Monday following a prolonged ailment. He was an active member of the CPI-ML (New Democracy). Several Left leaders visited his residence and paid rich tributes. The CPI-ML (ND) leaders also condoled the death.
Born at Mynampadu, in Santhanuthalapadu mandal in Prakasam district on February 13, 1914, Narayana swamy did his post-graduation in economics at the Benarus Hindu University. He took active part in the historic Telangana Armed Struggle.
When the government banned the Communist Party during the struggle, he went underground. He led several movements for farm labour in Guntur and Prakasam districts. In 1956 he lost his brothers in an encounter near Mynampadu.
