Hyderabad: The lunch-hour dharna of the Seemandhra employees in Secretariat on Tuesday demanding the Union government to keep the State united witnessed tense moments for a while when the employees made an attempt to enter Samata block which has the Chief Minister’s office.
The employees, led by Seemandhra Secretariat Employees Forum (SSEF), staged a dharna in front of Samata block by raising slogans against UPA government. At one stage, they even tried to enter the Samata block by pushing aside the barricades. The police, who did not expect the move, rushed to the spot and stopped the employees with a rope. The area reverberated with the slogans of the employees for more than an hour. They demanded the Chief Secretary P K Mohanty to come out and hear their demands. Earlier, they assembled in front of L-Block and staged dharna. Addressing the employees, SSEF leader K V Krishnaiah demanded the UPA government to stop the T bill and keep the State united.
“The people of Andhra Pradesh are in angry mood due to arrogant behavior of members of the Group of Ministers (GoM) and the Union Ministers,” he said, adding that they would continue their fight till the Centre takes back the bill to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
