The south central railway mazdoor union conducted a rally protesting against the death of the ticket collector Sanjeevayya near Mantralayam Road early this morning. The TC union including junior ticket collecting staff, lady TCs,TCs, and Ticket inspectors took out a rally from Secundrabad today. They demanded adequate security measures to protect ticket collectors who takes care of the public, said one of the inspectors.
The lady TCs too sought security while there were on duty, especially for those on duty at nights.
Talking to the media, one of the TCs said we have many responsibilities while the train is in movement. As many linking passengers come and go in the night, there are several things to be taken care of. Thus the passenger has no right to question the candidature of the TC like it happened yesterday, they said.
They also said that many work in mufti if required. Beating the TC is something highly brutal and imagining the plight of the TC's family is so sad, said the ticket inspector.
TC Sanjevayya, who died of cardiac arrest hails from Dharmavaram and has two children who are software engineers. His wife has plunged into deep depression after losing him. We oppose the crime and we do not have any faith on the department anymore, said one of the family member, adding that the TC's death was a big loss for the family.
