Hyderabad: The issue of State’s bifurcation has once again rocked the State Assembly on Tuesday as the MLAs from Telangana insisted that the Speaker suspend all other business and take up discussion on the draft T Bill, while the Seemandhra MLAs from TDP and YSRCP opposed it.
Amid the ruckus, Speaker N Manohar adjourned the house and called for a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to decide the time and modalities for the debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill-2013 that was tabled in the Assembly on Monday.
The Assembly reverberated with Pro-Telangana and united Andhra slogans even before the Speaker entered the house as MLAs from both the regions, cutting across party lines, surrounded the podium and raised slogans.
Soon after that, the Speaker announced that the adjournment motion given by the YSRCP, demanding that the house pass a resolution to urge the Centre to keep the State united, was rejected.
The TDP Seemandhra members asked the Speaker to permit a debate on the attitude of the Central and State governments in dividing the State.
The TRS members argued that the house take up a discussion on the draft T Bill immediately.
Amid the ruckus the Speaker adjourned the house and convened the BAC meeting. The house reassembled at 3.10 pm and announced that all the papers were deemed to have been laid on the house and adjourned the house till Wednesday morning.
